NOTICE REGARDING APPOINTMENT OF COURT INVESTIGATORS
FOR THE JUVENILE COURT


          The current lists of individuals eligible for appointment as court investigators in all divisions of the Juvenile Court will be null and void on October 1, 2012. A new list of persons eligible for appointment as court investigators in the Juvenile Court will be effective on October 1, 2012. The Administrative Office of the Juvenile Court, in consultation with the First Justices, shall determine whether an individual is eligible for appointment as a court investigator and shall maintain the lists of those eligible for appointment as court investigators for all divisions of the Juvenile Court.

 

          Anyone seeking to be qualified to be a court investigator for the Juvenile Court and included on the list effective October 1, 2012, shall submit their application and additional information as required by Section IV (A) of the Uniform Practice and Procedure Regarding the Appointment of Court Investigators to the Administrative Office of the Juvenile Court by July 9, 2012. Applications received after July 9, 2012 will not be reviewed until after the start of the new list on October 1, 2012.

Jurisdiction:

The Juvenile Court Department has general jurisdiction over delinquency, children in need of services (CHINS), care and protection petitions, adult contributing to a delinquency of a minor cases, adoption, guardianship, termination of parental rights proceedings, and youthful offender cases.

The Court Reorganization Act authorized the establishment of a statewide juvenile court. There are eleven divisions of the juvenile court with sessions in more than forty locations. The names and territorial jurisdictions are contained in G.L. c.218, s.57.
